La luce attesa: the short film continues its journey

Written by Editorial IBSA | 2026

The roadshow for ‘La luce attesa’, the short film created by IBSA Foundation and the CISA Film Academy, continues; following its screening at Locarno, it continues to feature in the programmes of events dedicated to the cinema.

Participation in the 79th edition of the Locarno Film Festival last August marked a significant milestone for the project. Presented in the Film Forward section, the short film had the opportunity to reach one of the most prestigious stages in international cinema, within a setting that fosters the exploration of new forms of expression and dialogue between different artistic visions.

The Film Forward section of the Locarno Film Festival is a space dedicated to experimentation and innovation in cinematic language, showcasing works that explore new narrative, aesthetic, and expressive forms. It is an environment that encourages artistic research and the interplay of different creative languages, offering visibility to projects that stand out for their originality and creative approach, while introducing fresh perspectives on storytelling through images.

For IBSA Foundation, this experience also provided an opportunity to bring a project born from the intersection of science communication and artistic creativity to an internationally renowned film festival.

The film explores the theme of the desire for parenthood through archival footage that takes on new meanings as it is reinterpreted and recontextualized through the vision and artistic sensibility of director Etienne Delbiaggio. Guiding the viewer through this story is the narrating voice of Elda Olivieri, whose words accompany the images, shaping an intimate and evocative narrative.

On 28 October, there will be another screening at Cinemagia

The next screening is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 6:30 PM, at the GranRex cinema in Locarno, where La luce attesa will be shown as part of Cinemagia, the film series that has selected the short film for its programme.

This marks a return to Locarno, but in a new setting, offering the film an opportunity to reach new audiences and continue its journey beyond the Festival circuit.

The selection for Cinemagia represents another milestone in the short film's journey, which is already looking beyond the borders of the Swiss city. La luce attesa has also been submitted to other film festivals, although details must remain confidential for the time being. We will have to wait and see where the film's journey takes it next.

IBSA Foundation and cinema: a new frontier in science communication

With La luce attesa, IBSA Foundation reaffirms its commitment to exploring innovative ways of communicating science and health-related topics, making them increasingly accessible and relevant to people's lives. Alongside its science communication initiatives, the Foundation continues to explore new forms of communication that can build connections between knowledge, culture, and emotions.

Cinema represents a new frontier in this journey: a space where audiovisual storytelling can bring audiences closer to complex issues, encourage dialogue, and offer fresh perspectives. This is yet another expression of IBSA Foundation's commitment to building bridges between science and society, also through the power of images.
