The eighth edition has introduced a great news: the Foundation has decided to dedicate one of the fellowships to the research on coronavirus infections.
The IBSA Foundation awards 5 fellowships every year, each worth € 30,000, to young researchers under the age of 40, from Universities and Research Institutes around the world, who have distinguished themselves for their skills and have ongoing projects of particular relevance in 4 areas of research, with the addition of the 2020 special edition.
Applications can be sent by researchers under the age of 40 of any nationality, with a degree in medicine, biology, pharmacy, bio-technology or bio-engineering. The call is open to PhDs, post-docs, research fellows and residents.
The proposals will be evaluated by the Foundation’s international Scientific Board using a peer review process. The IBSA Foundation Board Management will choose the winners after having taken the recommendations of the Scientific Board into consideration.
The applicants will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Quality of the project to be developed in the host laboratory (Feasibility – Originality –-Scientific value)
- CV of the candidate with particular emphasis on the research experience
- Suitability of the host laboratory for the proposed work
The projects of applicants that wish to enhance their scientific profile by working at a research institute other than their laboratory of origin, will receive an additional 10% scoring value (Mobility Factor).

The call for proposals is now closed and results will be communicated in spring 2021.
