IBSA Foundation partners with InnovaComiX 2026

Written by Editorial IBSA | 2025

IBSA Foundation joins InnovavaComiX as a partner, renewing a commitment that over the years has helped turn comics into a vital tool for bringing science closer to the public and engaging younger generations.

InnovaComiX - Lugano International Comic Art Festival returns from 26 February to 1 March 2026 with a refreshed, internationally minded edition. Lugano will welcome some of the most influential voices in contemporary comic art, with exhibitions, talks, workshops, previews and a programme designed for audiences of all ages.

This edition marks an important step forward: a format inspired by Europe’s leading festivals, a stronger organisational structure and an increasing focus on young people, as well as on the ability of comics to capture and narrate the world we live in.

At the heart of the edition are the Cygne d'Argent, the new award celebrating the 29 works selected by the International Curatorial Committee. Recently introduced, and made possible also thanks to the support of IBSA Foundation, the prize honours artistic excellence, narrative quality and the cultural impact of international comic art.

IBSA Foundation: telling the story of science through comics

For many years the Foundation has been promoting the language of art and culture through Let's Science!, a creative, multisensory pathway for scientific outreach developed for younger audiences. The initiative helps students explore themes linked to science and health through comic stories, hands-on workshops and curated exhibitions. At the heart of the project lies the Let's Science! book series, a collection of comics addressing current scientific topics, produced in collaboration with DECS and the Scuola Romana dei Fumetti.

Complementing this work are the educational activities at Casa Carlo Cattaneo, a space where students take part in programmes that support well-being, spark creativity and encourage new forms of learning.

Supporting InnovaComiX is a natural continuation of this mission: promoting comics as a cultural language capable of inspiring curiosity, participation and new ways of approaching science.

"We are delighted to be alongside InnovaComiX, because comics offer a language that blends curiosity, knowledge and creativity. With Let’s Science! we chose to explore this language within the field of science; supporting the Cygne d’Argent means recognising its cultural and artistic value, and its ability to speak to everyone."
