Biography

Silvia Misiti, MD PhD, she started her career in 2001 as Assistant Professor in Endocrinology at Sapienza University of Rome.

In 2012 she moved to Lugano, where she directs the IBSA Foundation for scientific research, a non-profit organization created by the pharmaceutical company IBSA Institut Biochimique SA. Her mission is to combine the passion for scientific research with the promotion of multiple activities always focused on innovation, education and dissemination, through close contacts with the cultural and academic institutions, to keep a wide look on what research offers us today to overcome the frontier of knowledge.

She currently is, also, Head of Corporate Communication & CSR at IBSA.

Biography

Co-Founder and Vice-President of the Fitzcarraldo Foundation since 2013, a leading research body dealing with the cultural policies of public entities, private bodies (in particular, institutional philanthropy) and public authorities, promoting and supporting the cross-sectoral innovation processes of culture and through culture, as well as the impact of civil, social and economic innovation, and the empowerment of people and communities.

Since 2009, she has been Vice President of the Medicina a Misura di Donna Foundation, the body that promotes gender-specific health, which she created together with ten other women from various backgrounds, based in the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department of the Sant’Anna Hospital in Turin.

She set up and has been managing the first inter-disciplinary platform for research-action on the alliance between “Art, health and social change” for the Body since 2011, in which more than seventy cultural and cognitive establishments share their skills, studies and research with several other fields – medicine, human and social sciences. With the numerous pilot projects carried out and applied to a wide variety of contexts generating profound change, this platform is considered to be a role model for the commitment to the development of the virtuous relationship between cultural participation and the humanization of the healthcare and well-being of people and organizations, based on the growing, consolidated yet not widely known, clinical and scientific evidence that proves it.

She encourages dissemination and discussion in particular through the management of editorial projects. From 2011 to 2019, after having overseen research reports, she headed the ”Giornale delle Fondazioni”. She is the scientific manager of “Arte e Impresa“, the newspaper of the “Giornale dell’Arte”, and the monthly publication of studies “Letture Lente” by AgCult.

By vocation, she has arrived on the social innovation scene by reading the effects of the financial crisis of 2009, bringing her personal experience and networks acquired through senior positions held in human resources management, communication management, and the management of the cultural investments made by international firms.

Giacinto Di Pierantonio

Professor of History of Art at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan

Biography

He is Professor of 3 courses at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan: Publishing Systems for Art and Theory, History of Representation Methods and History of Contemporary Art. He was one of the founders, in 2003, of AMACI – Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums – of which he is currently a Member of the Board of Directors and Director of “I love Museums”, the magazine of the Association’s information organ. He has been the Curator of the BoCS Art Residences of Cosenza from April 2018 to December 2019 and in 2018 the Director of the Autostrada Biennale Prizren Kosovo.

From 2000 to 2017 he has been Director of GAMeC – Bergamo Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery. He served as Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Director then for “Flash Art Italia” from 1986 to 1992, a magazine with which he continues to collaborate. Since 2011 he has been in charge of the “For the record” column in the journal “Artribune” and, with Luca Rossi, the online column “Oltre il giardino” on the Whitehouse website.

Among the many exhibitions curated by him, we remember the exhibition of Russian artists in the “Passaggi ad Oriente” at the Venice Biennale in 1993, the editions of “Fuori Uso” of 1995, 1997, 1998 and 1999 and “Over the Edges“ with Jan Hoet in Ghent (Belgium). He was Curator of the Advanced Course of Visual Arts at the Antonio Ratti Foundation of Como from 1995 to 2004 and is a Consultant for the Furla Prize – Querini Stampalia for Art.

Commissioner of the Rome Quadrennial of 2005, he is a Member of the scientific committee of the Kogart Foundation of Budapest, of the Civic Gallery Palazzo Asperia of Alessandria, of MUSEION of Bolzano and of the Spazio Oberdan of Milan.

Giovanni Pellegri

Head of “L’ideatorio” of the Università della Svizzera italiana

Biography

Giovanni Pellegri (Lugano, 1966) obtained his degree in biology, awarded for the excellence of the results obtained, at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lausanne. He held a doctorate in neurobiology at the Faculty of Medicine in Lausanne, also awarded as the best research of the year by the scientific journal “Le Scienze” (Italian edition of “Scientific American”). After dedicating 7 years to an association active in the humanitarian and social fields, he joined the USI – Università della Svizzera italiana of Lugano, in the Research Service, with the task of promoting scientific research. Since 2005 he has created L’ideatorio, a service of USI that deals with the dialogue between science and society and the promotion of scientific culture.

Between 2006 and 2008 he has been working as a Host and Editor with the “Il Giardino di Albert” program of the RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera italiana. He is a Member of the Settimana del Cervello Committee and of Caritas Ticino Assembly. Since 2004 he has been Regional Coordinator at the Università della Svizzera italiana of the Science et Cité Foundation, which promotes the dialogue between science and citizens.
